A10 highway, exit “Arma di Taggia”, way to Imperia. There are both free car-parks and paid parking in the city centre, less than 5 minutes far from the bike path.
Bus route Riviera Trasporti Imperia-Sanremo (it isn’t possible to take bikes on buses)
Length: about 4 km
In Aregai area, by the old railroad ticket office, there’s the access to the bike path.
There is a convenient car and motorbike park in the approach road from the Aurelia way. The east direction is the way to San Lorenzo al mare (I° ROUTE), the west direction is the way to Santo Stefano al mare. The path in this part runs parallel to the Aurelia way, but it’s several metres below. You have to go through an ancient stone bridge, used time ago to cross the rail-road.
Soon after, in a long back straight, it skirts the Marina degli Aregai marina, a recent seaport realized in the nineties, and still developing. The route goes through a not particularly striking zone on a natural level, but it gives a glance to the marina. At the end of the back straight you reach another bridge that crosses above the path. It’s the access road to the Santo Stefano al mare’s seafront, old fishermen town defined by a small but distinguishing old town (take a look at ENVIRONS).
The path continues skirting the cemetery, and then it goes on a viaduct that arrives in the heart of the town. Very close to the houses, the path widens and passes through the old rail-road station area, and continues through cultivated lands (now abandoned) intersecting old little roads of the town, till it reaches the town of Riva Ligure.
In Riva Ligure the path continues crossing fields and little roads, in a zone that parts the old town and the periphery. The feature of this segment of the path is passing through two characteristic ligurian towns risen near the sea, once cut in two by the railway. It was necessary to use many level crossing and low and narrow underpass just to go up and down the town.
From the path it’s very easy to access to the two towns, which have a wonderful seafront and many free and equipped sand beaches.
The path reaches the end of the town of Riva Ligure exactly near the Aurelia way in a junction with a traffic light, which allows the access to the town. There are some car park here.
The path runs parallel to the street, way to Arma di Taggia.
I° Route: from S.Stefano to Mare a Riva Ligure
III° Route: from Riva Ligure to Arma di Taggia
